I read that people think that zoos should not be taking animals captive. It can hurt and they might not familiar with their new home. Also since technology is growing people (Jon Coe) are making animals lives easier and we can still have zoos. This is what I read.

I think that they mean they need to make the environment more like the wild and more bright.

I respectfully disagree because it is showing how it is helping both the animals and the humans life and you were saying it is hurting the animal

many zoos do not have the money or space for a proper habitat. this means the animals in are zoo have less space to move around. in the wild they had a lot of space to move sense they are in the zoo most of that space in the wild is gone they are in a little cage or a tiny copy of the wild. if zoos don't have the money they will stop getting new animals and close down

I respectfully disagree, even small zoos have environments fit for the animals to get used to, the cages aren't small, the smallest cage is probably more than 5 km by 5m at least.

I agree with you. I think it's very important to have the right environments, or else the animals will die out anyway.

I agree with you. It can be a very good reason animals struggle because they are not in the wild. They obhviously prefer that better. And anyways if they are in the zoo held in capitivity then they will die anyways so why not just leave them in the wild?

I agree, I also think that there shouldn't be many zoos, the zoos should have humongous environments for the animals because animals need space to Rome, and to many zoos means not enough moeny for all the zoos to get large enough enviorments for all the animals to be healthy and happy. So, I agree with you.

I think the main idea of this article is to convince people to stop the animals of the zoo from being in captivity. But many zookeepers disagree. In the article it said that not all zoos have the money to meet the animals' habitats. Like elephants need company, so each zoo much have at least 3 elephants. But not every zoo can afford to buy that many. Zoos are supposed to preserve the animals, but they might go extinct anyway if the zoos don't have the right environments. What will they do then?

I knew they needed the right environment... but I forgot about company! I see what you mean! I agree with them needing the right environment and how you said that if they don't have it, something bad might happen! Nobody knows...

How did the zoo get all this money to build such a nice habitat for the animals. They built these also so they could explore better in the zoo. I disagree on the small paragraph on top of creature connection about lots of light because wouldn't the animals like to be in the shade. I liked how they told us why they built the habitats differently.

I like that you pointed out that not all animals like lots and lots of sunlight. Animals like polar bears and penguins can't live in too much sunlight.

They are making the zoo more safe for people and more enjoyable for the animals, just like now the lions can not bite the people but can play with the others. Also like the white handed gibbon cannot scratch people but it can explore in the cage of its own. They have made this in the zoo's because they want to want to make a better experience to the people who come to the zoo. So the people don't get to scared or get hurt but to have a good experience at the zoo!!!!

That is true.. buying the food and equipment but... if they pay tons of money at first... for different animals. Can they get more money by more visitors? They can increase the price for a ticket though.

My claim is that zoos should only exist if they can afford and properly take care of the animals and what the need. Let's say there's this zoo, that people can visit but only has a few animals and not a lot of food. The zoo also cannot afford all the food and land for the animals. Then what's the point of having this zoo for animals? It's basically no use anymore, but if you have another actually good zoo that habitats are good for the animals and there is an appropriate amount of land they can afford, then that good zoo can be kept for the better of animals. The text also had a lot of directors and experts on the zoos comment about what they think of "the future of the zoos" but they were saying mostly just we need the animals to survive in better zoos.

I think the main idea off this book is that every zoo should improve their zoo to make it feel more like the animals home. I read that the biulder of the zoo made it so the plan combinded lots of light, lots of room, and natural vegetation.

I read that animals get a lot more space for this overhead trail that they had. although elephants can't fit in the trail so elephants don't have the trails and the AZA said that elephants need company so they need 3 elephants in one environment . And some zoos can't afford that. The Zoo360 has changed the way people and animals experience a zoo.

Today in zoos it is hard for the animals and many people are trying to help them but maybe it is not the best place for animals. My evidence is because in the article it says, "Studies show that many animal species are are smarter and feel more than we have understood. Animals may suffer when they are removed from the wild. If so, should they be held in captivity?" Let's say at a zoo you look at a tiger. Zhou would probably think that they are fine and that they like being taken care of in a zoo. But really, insde they are probably thinking that they want freedom like we would want freedom if we were in a cage of locked up. They should be free in a place where they don't bother anybody. Like, not in neighborhoods, in the jungle and the wild.

I think what the main idea of this passage is that to make the animals place were they live like in the forest or other places. My claim is that it is a bad place to be in. I said it is an bad place because what if it broke and the animals got out they can maybe kill people. Another reason is that it what if the zoo keeper went in and the zoo keeper might die. This is why it is an bad idea.

I think people can have the zoos but they need to make them as roomy as possible for the animals because zoos purposes are to show people th other creatures on this planet. but they must give them enough of their species and and everything.
